Christmas Break

Well, it was our intent to spend the week following Christmas up in Tahoe enjoying the snow and skiing. However, given the lack of snow (essentially it hasn't hardly snowed at all this winter ...yet), we decided to stick close to home.  We spent one of the days visiting the Children's Discovery Museum.

Visit to the Discovery Museum

We returned home from Tahoe after Christmas with the anticipation of having Grandma and Grandpa visit from New Jersey ... only to find out that with the huge winter storm that hit the east coast, their flight had been cancelled. Long story short, it was nearly impossible to leave the east coast for nearly a week. Everyone was disappointed, so in an effort to find something else fun to fill our week, we headed out to the Children's Discovery Museum (with our new family membership thanks to the Zyla family!!!).

It was Mia's first visit and, as we all know, it's one of Luke's favorite places. On this particular day, it was packed, so we didn't stay too long ... one of the perks of being members is not feeling bad about just dropping in for an hour or two.
While we were there we split up so that Luke could do big boy stuff (his top priority was the water play area) while Mia visited the Wonder Cabinet (the infant/toddler area).

We met up towards the end for some fun on the fire engine before heading home!

Can't wait to put that membership to good use ... I'm sure we will!

Two cute boys and one fun day

This week Mommy and I drove up to Sausalito to meet my buddy Jack and Mommy's friend Gina for some fun at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. It was a full, and fun-filled day. Mommy woke me up and we headed out right away, eating breakfast in the car. The day was beautiful and I particularly enjoyed the ride across the Golden Gate Bridge.

As you can see, we had a great time. We spent just about all of our time at the "Tot Spot," and I think that the highlight was probably the outdoor stream.

Inside there were lots of places to jump, climb, crawl, and explore.

After several hours of fun, we headed back to Jack's house for lunch, naps, and some more play time. Then, Mommy and I met Daddy in the city and checked out his office and all had dinner together. It was quite the adventure!

Rainy days

We've had our first two real rainy days of the season yesterday and today. I actually detest the rain, but don't mind the first few days of it. Luke, on the other hand, seems to LOVE the rain ... although, I presume that this too will come to an end once he figures that it means not going outside, for a walk, to the park, etc.

Yesterday Luke went to school in the morning (thank goodness!), but was a ball of energy by evening time with no time outside. What to do? Well ... we put all of the pillows from the couches on the floor of the family room and let him bounce around like a lunatic. THEN, he suited up in his rainboots and raincoat and went out and ran around in the rain. I failed to take pictures of either of these adventures, but hopefully they will happen again since they were photo-worthy.

Today, I decided that I needed a better plan. With no school, I knew I would pay the price of not having anything good planned. So, Luke and I ventured out to one of his favorite places EVER - the SJ Children's Discovery Museum. Seriously, this place is such a gem in our community. We are so lucky to have it nearby. There is just so much for a 2 year old to do. We could have stayed all day!

Luke's 2nd Birthday

It is hard to believe that our little baby is already two years old. It seems that the days have passed slowly, but the months and years have gone by (too) fast.
On Luke's actual birthday, he came to see Mommy in bed just like usual, and I surprised him with a bouquet of balloons and "Happy Birthday to You." He asked me to sing it "more" about 5 times ... so, of course, I did!

After a favorite breakfast of yogurt, fruit, and french toast, we met up with Grammy (aka "Day") and headed to the Children's Discovery Museum. I think that we might have explored the entire place, but there is so much to see. The highlight for Luke was certainly the fire engine (which we visited twice - on the way in and the way out). He also really loved the water exploration area and the Curious George exhibit.

On the way home, we picked up McDonald's for Luke: chicken nuggets and a vanilla milkshake - YUM! He took a nap at my mom's while we enjoyed massages (that was my mom's gift to me on Luke's birthday - pretty nice!).

Daddy arrived home early from work to play with Luke, and we enjoyed a dinner of Luke's favorites: fruit salad, smoothies, and yet again, french toast (the rest of us also had eggs and bacon to complete our meal!). Then it was time for presents ... a fire truck and a trampoline from Mommy and Daddy, and a tool bench set, books, and an outdoor swing set (to come later) from Grammy and Poppy.
To top off the evening - cupcakes! Luke looked at us as though we were crazy while we sang, but was happy to blow out his candles and dig into his banana cupcake with cream cheese frosting!

Lucky Luke! Lucky us! What a fun day!
