Tahoe firsts

Sometimes it seems like everything happens at once - things change overnight. I guess this is especially true in the world of parenting.

While we were in Tahoe this past weekend, Mia got her first tooth - the lower front left one. I can practically see the one right next to it through the gumline, so I'm sure that it will be in any day now also. Funny thing is, I still remember Luke's first tooth; it came through when we were in Tahoe over MLK weekend in 2008. Once Mia's tooth is really visible, I'll post another picture. Until then, rest assured that she is letting me know that she isn't all that happy about these teething pains. We've been up every several hours at night for the past 5 nights or so. Fun times!

Mia also took her first ride on a swing over the weekend. She loved it. LOVED it! She squealed and kicked her legs and smiled the entire time ... just like her brother did when he first tried out the swing. Looks like we're going to need to get another swing in the backyard!

And crawling - she'll be doing it pretty soon. Over the weekend I noticed her trying to push herself forward using her feet. She was also starting to get the idea of getting her knees underneath her. Now this I was NOT ready for :(. A preschooler and a crawler is a whole new ballgame.

Summer in Tahoe

Mommy, Day, Mia and I spent last weekend in Tahoe. Daddy is away on a business trip, and Paw is away visiting his family, so we decided it was the perfect opportunity to head north.

Here's a quick recap of our weekend:

The Northstar Recreation Center has super fun pool facilities for kids. I especially enjoy the shallow pool with the fire hydrant fountain, so we hung out there several days:

They also have a playground. How can you beat that ... a pool and a playground in the same place - it doesn't get better than that! I love to climb, but swinging is still my favorite. Mia seems to like it too!

We spent some time just hanging around the house, taking walks, cooking, playing in the yard, and swinging in one of the hammocks out back:

The Village at Northstar has all sorts of fun things to do also. One night we ate dinner there, and another evening we went to watch the bungee cord jumping. I thought that I wanted to do it at the time, but decided that maybe I would wait until I "grow a little bigger."

What a fun weekend!

The BIG 3!

We had a rockin' party to celebrate my 3rd birthday!

First, Miss Lisa from Kindermusik came and lead a jam session with all the kids

Then, Uncle Kenny surprised us with an animal interaction (who needs to pay a park ranger to come by when you are related to the Crocodile Hunter?)

Next, we ate lunch - no pictures of that since, well, if you know me at all, you know that I didn't eat anything anyways...

PRESENTS! So many new, fun toys. I wanted to play with each one after I opened it. Some of my favorite new things ... more train stuff from Jack.

Since I didn't eat lunch, I had plenty of room for cake!

Mia had the birthday spirit

This is my buddy, Jack. He's the only guy I know who feels the same way about trains as I do.

Oh, and he's into fire trucks too ... this is why we get along so well.

Luke's 3rd Birthday

Luke was treated to a day filled with fun and favorites on his birthday this year.

He was welcomed in the morning by a HUGE balloon:

We got ready and headed out for Luke's favorite breakfast: Jamba Juice and bagels.

Next stop: Happy Hollow.

Back at home, Luke rested but refused to nap!

After showers we were back at the celebrating again - present time!

Books, puzzles, games, a soccer net, a sleeping bag, a camera ... what a lucky little boy!

Patiently waiting for the big reveal....

Followed by dinner at Luke's favorite restaurant: Chili's.

You want to dip tortilla chips in your chocolate milkshake? Whatever! It's your birthday!

And, finally, a cupcake back at home before bed.

Whew, what a fabulous, 3 year old kind of day!!!
