The Northstar Firehouse

The Northstar Firehouse gives tours to kids every Friday (how cool is that?). As soon as we saw this, we signed ourselves up because we know that we have a fire truck fanatic amongst us.

If meeting Thomas was the first highlight of Luke's life, then this was definitely the second. He was the youngest tourist, but kept right up with the big kids. He loved every single second.
So intrigued - watching and listening to everything:

Watching as the fireman puts on all of his gear:

The exhaust pipe:

Looking at all the gauges:

Checking out the hoses:

Driving the truck:

Waiting his turn for the hose:
Shooting the fire hose with the nice fireman:

"Let me try that myself"
"Sliding" down the pole:
What an amazing experience!

More S'mores, please

We made s'mores around the fire pit in Tahoe this time. Yum ... this made Mommy VERY happy, but it scared me a little. I didn't like how close we were getting to the fire (which everyone always shouts "HOT" at me if I walk within 5 feet of)

Once I realized that I could sit back and let the rest of them do the dangerous work at the fire while I enjoyed my treat, I decided to give it a try.

Of course, true to form, I had to inspect it before I decided whether I would even take a taste

but, once I allowed it to pass my lips, I was a happy camper

and I even went back for another little marshmallow and chocolate candy bar taste!
YUMMY!

Tahoe firsts

We just returned from a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend in Tahoe. It was such a great time with a number of firsts for Luke ....

his first s'more,
his first toe dip in Lake Tahoe, AND
his first time shooting a REAL fire hose!

Luke had the opportunity to play at the beautiful newly renovated recreation center/play area every day that we were there. He loved their new play equipment and their kiddie pool. So much fun!
Loving the slide - he must have done it about 100 times a day!

It's a GIRL!

Luke will have a little sister...we couldn't be more excited!

Ultrasound pics to come soon ... once we hook our scanner back up, but things are in a bit of a transition around here as we adjust rooms and clear out the new GIRLY nursery :)

Meeting Thomas

As part of Luke's birthday, we wanted to take him to ride on a train. It just so happened that Thomas, the most famous of ALL trains (if you're 2), was visiting town this past weekend. So, obviously, we booked our tickets.

I think that it might have been the highlight of Luke's life :)! He LOVED riding on the train. Roaring Camp has a regular train schedule, so we will be going back soon for some more train rides!

All Aboard!

The Train Ride (they played Thomas music the whole way!):

At the end of the ride, as we were getting off and the music was still playing, Luke decided to dance a bit. The conductor thought this was so cute that he joined in:

And then, the conductor punched Luke's ticket:

Checking out the trains with Grandpa (AKA "Buck-pa"):

There were tons of other Thomas-related things to do (face painting, tattoos, models, Sir Topham Hatt, etc.), here Luke is at the sing-along (dancing, naturally):
