Our watchcat

I went looking for Linus the other night ... and this is where I found him.

I think he was actually sleeping with Luke, but woke up when I came in. He seemed just happy to sit there and watch Luke sleep.

Crazy cat! One day he and Luke will be great friends (right after Luke stops trying to ride on him like he's a horse, and brush his teeth!).

An "owie"

My first bandaid

That big ol' dog of ours knocked me down when we were playing outside, and I scraped my knee (just a little). Mommy gave me this thing to make it feel better ... and I just love looking at it.

Mommy's little helper

We baked cupcakes earlier this week - carrot cake for Daddy.

I helped Mommy stir...

Then, I put the baking cups in the tins...

As the cupcakes were baking, I took a taste of the batter ... ick! I much prefer chocolate!!!

Monkey eats breakfast

Luke loves to pretend these days. He races his cars around saying "zoom zoom," he tucks his stuffed animals into bed, and today, he fed Monkey breakfast.

Yes, in case you're wondering, Monkey DID need a bath after this breakfast endeavor (the banana was only the beginning), however I made sure not to tell Luke that because he might have insisted upon immediately putting him in the tubby. Instead, Monkey got a quick spot clean, and he is now enjoying a full laundering experience while Luke naps :)

"It's a Beautiful Day"

Luke LOVES. TO. DANCE. It's one of the things that he does most often these days. Such a groover ....

Happy SPRING!

Favorite Things...

You may notice a few new "favorite things" added to list at the right. Luke has so many things that he really, truly loves these days. One is his matchbox cars ... he looked at me as though I was crazy today when I tried to take them away before nap!

Luke loves ...

10 things I LOVE about Luke at 20 months

1) I love that you have become Mr. Manners, and are so good at saying "peaz" and "dan du" (thank you). I love that you now say "dan du" without being prompted or reminded, and when you really, really want something "peaz" turns into "peeeaaaz."

2) I love that you are so verbal now and that you tell Mommy and Daddy ALL about it, even if we can only pick out a word or two that we understand. We just nod our heads, and you keep going in your little Luke language.

3) I love how well-rounded you are becoming. You love trains (as always), cars, the park, coloring, reading books, dinosaurs, farm animals, DANCING, singing, climbing, somersaulting, playing in water, kicking and throwing balls, eating (IF the food is to your liking!), talking, taking walks, playing instruments, watching and playing with other kids, circle time at school. All of this makes for such a wonderful, full-of-life little boy.

4) I love how you are transitioning from a baby into a little boy. Of course, I will always cherish and dearly miss those baby days, but to see you grow and become your own little person is THE most incredible experience.

5) I love your vocabulary. I know, I say it every month, and then every month it just gets better. You can say SO much now, and you are able to repeat EVERYTHING (yes, we have to watch what we say around here!). It cracks me up that out of everyone in your life, you say Elmo's name the best and most clear. "Uh-oh" and "Wow!" also make me laugh.

6) I am amazed by how much you are learning everyday. You can count to 10 now with very little help. You know many colors (blue, red, yellow, green, purple). You can recognize a ton of animals and make their sounds.

7) I can't believe that you climbed out of your crib this month and transitioned so easily into a "big boy bed." Yes, we have had a few rough nights, and nap time still isn't perfect (Mommy broke out the pack-n-play for that a few days ago), but you are such a good little night time sleeper. You absolutely LOVE your big boy bed and have so much fun getting in and out of it and showing it to anyone and everyone who comes over. You call it your "bea, boe, bed."

8) I love how your imaginative play is totally coming to life. You love to take care of your stuffed animals by THROWING them into the bed, giving them a bink (pacifier), and the blankie, and saying "nigh, nigh." And, you also love to switch roles and put Mommy to bed with your blankie, and you always try to shove the bink in my mouth too - no thank you!

9) I love that you have learned to be mischievous. Now, I know someday I will eat these words, but right now it is too cute. When you KNOW that you are supposed to be in bed and I walk up the stairs, you giggle, grab your blankie, and run to your room, dive into bed, and pretend you are sleeping.

10) I love that you are slowly (very slowly) expanding your food repertoire. Plums, turkey meatballs, and sandwiches were all added this month.

Luke, it has been another amazing month with you. Your hugs, kisses, and snuggles make our every day. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful little boy!

My 19-month-old cutie

How is it possible that he is nearly 20 months old? Here are a few pics from earlier in the week:

Bloomers in Tahoe

We just returned from what may have been the best weekend yet this season in Tahoe. Daddy skiied a bunch, Mommy said the snowboarding was her favorite all year (good snow AND sunny weather), and I scored by visiting the Kidzone two days in a row!

Mr. Tom and Mrs. Amy met us there. Mommy and Daddy loved catching up and hanging out with them, and I had a few extra playmates. I met them last November ... and, as you can see, what a difference 16 months makes!

Another fun part about our most recent trip was meeting a new friend. Her name is Emma, she's from Australia, and she is my new Tahoe babysitter. I loved her so much that I barely even noticed that everyone left and went out without me. I guess Mommy & Daddy decided after my last performance out at dinner that we would all be better off if I stayed home to play. I am looking forward to seeing Emma again next time we're in town!

Bedtime stories part II

Okay, soon (really soon ... I promise), I will begin blogging about something other than Luke's bedtime antics. But this is too funny to not share (and, like I told Kate last weekend, as much as I love to share these things will all of you who check in and read, this blog has become more of a record of Luke and for Luke than anything else).

So, when you just aren't quite ready to lay down, do you ever sleep standing up?

Bedtime stories

Sometimes beds are overrated ...

...and sometimes they aren't.

After spending a couple of nights falling asleep on the floor, I've decided that it is actually quite a lot more comfortable to just sleep in the bed. Not to mention that somehow I always wake up in bed anyways (hmm?).

Occasionally, I still peek my head out of my room once after bedtime, just to be sure nothing exciting is going on, and if the coast is clear, I close my door and head to bed.
