What happens ...

...when you leave your toddler to entertain your infant for a few moments:

Firehouse fun!

Okay, seriously, this might have been the absolute highlight of Luke's life thus far (and it was actually pretty exciting for the adults too!).


Day and Paw won a dinner at the firehouse at a charity auction ... and we didn't realize just how many cool things we were going to get to do while there. Check it out:



First up was a tour of the fire house, but Luke had absolutely no interest in seeing their HOUSE ... he wanted to see their TRUCKS! So, we took a raincheck on the house tour and headed straight out to the garage.

We were able to look at and sit in all of the trucks. Luke loved sitting in the back...

...and in the driver's seat with Daddy.

Until the alarm sounded and we had to quickly jump out of the trucks so that the firemen could jump in and take off!!!

While they were gone, Luke got to look at some of the other fire trucks on site ... and the fireman who stayed back from the call offered to take Luke for his first ride in a fire engine!

Luke decided to take a seat in the back with Day while Daddy rode up front and honked the horn and operated the sirens!

Luckily, the rest of the crew arrived back to the station in time for dinner

After a delicious dinner of tri tip, pasta, and salad, they presented Luke with his own hat, and we took the tour of the fire house.

Then we headed back outside to practice knocking down cones with the water from a fire hose

We went for another ride in the other engine

And they showed us how the ladder goes up!

SO. MUCH. FUN.

Luke would like to thank both Day and Paw and the Santa Clara County firefighters for donating to a wonderful cause and making a little boy's dream come true!

Luke asks, "Mommy, what does Mia have on her head?"

I explain that it is a hair clip (I did add that they were usually for girls).

"Why don't I have one? I NEED one."

What to do? Well, I let him have one of course!

After wearing it for only a few minutes, he was over it!

Luke's Happy Place...

...is Happy Hollow.

Since we have had no Mandala for a few weeks, we've filled the days with other activities. Luke took Day to Happy Hollow this week. What fun!

Luke loved laughing as Day tried to feed the goats - he much preferred to watch her try to do it than to feed them himself!

Luke was positive about one thing - he wanted to ride the roller coaster. I love these two pictures - so happy and excited to finally be on it, and then .... a look of absolute terror. He didn't seem frightened last time we rode the roller coaster, but admitted that today he was "just a little scared."

And, of course, a favorite: Danny the Dragon ("nice and slow," as Luke says after getting off the roller coaster)

Introducing ....

our beautiful 5 month old!


Most of what is going on in Mia-world I have already blogged about this month ... but, I have not yet mentioned how much our girl likes to TALK! I thought Luke was a vocal baby, but he really had nothing on Mia. She has a LOT to say, and can say it very LOUD. The funniest part about her talking is that you can absolutely tell by the tone of her voice what she is feeling (there is no doubt when she is yelling at us because she is not happy!). I'll have to try to get a video one of these days.

Pool day

My parents are members at the local Country Club, so we will be able to go and use their pool this summer. We took advantage yesterday, and Luke had a blast. He loved the water and seems anxious to learn to swim. Perfect because I plan to enroll him in swim lessons again this summer - he has to be 3 years old to be in a class that doesn't require parent participation in the water (sort of hard when you have an infant), so he'll be starting the session that begins the week immediately following his birthday in July!

Mia liked kicking her feet in the water also.
